About the MSMA-Minnesota Chapter...

The MSMA Minnesota Chapter was established in 1993 by a small group of dedicated mailing professionals with the vision of raising the level of professionalism of our Managers through education and professional certification. Our membership consists of a very diverse group of companies in a wide range of industry involvement. We have conducted a very wide variety of locally held educational opportunities since our inception and we continue to grow our membership ranks.  MSMA Minnesota has been recognized as one of the premier chapter's by winning the prestigious "Chapter of the Year" Award in both 2003 and 2005. 

We provide:

• Educational opportunities that range from 2-3 hour breakfast and luncheon meetings to in-depth full day and two day seminars presented by nationally recognized speakers.
• Networking opportunities with some of the leaders in the mailing/shipping Industries through local, regional and national educational events.
• CMDSM (Certified Mail and Distribution Systems Manager) Certification and CMDSS (Certified Mail and Distribution Systems Supplier) Certification opportunities. Currently, nineteen of our members  have been CMDSM certified and one CMDSS certified.
• Newsletters filled with upcoming meeting information, industry news, and a calendar of mail industry events.

About the MSMA as a National Association...

The Mail Systems Management Association was established in 1981 to provide mail systems' managers a framework to build professional recognition, share information and grow as professionals within the mailing industry. The association has grown from its modest beginnings into an association that has 2500 members, in 21 local chapters throughout the United States.

The MSMA provides its members with national industry certification programs and awards professionals who complete the certification process with industry designation of Certified Mail and Distribution Systems Manager (CMDSM) or Certified Mail and Distribution Systems Supplier (CMDSS).

Recognition:  Each year, the Association presents 3 major awards in recognition of exceptional contribution to the mail industry.  These awards, presented at the spring MAILCOM Conference include Manager of the Year, Distinguished Service Award, and the Chapter of the Year Award

Cliff Bennett Memorial Education Award:  MSMA’s National Board, in conjunction with MAILCOM, Mail Magazine and Pitney Bowes sponsors an annual educational program in memory of Cliff Bennett.  This award is presented at the fall MAILCOM Conference to the MSMA member who best exemplifies the goals of Cliff Bennett – the advancement of the mail & distribution systems professional. 

MTAC Representation:  MSMA is represented on the Postmaster General’s Mailers’ Technical Advisory Committee (MTAC).  MTAC is comprised of organizations, which represent mailers and other associations/organizations related to the mailing industry.  The purpose of MTAC is to provide a means in which mailers and the US Postal Service can share technical information, advice and recommendations on matters concerning mail-related products and services in order to enhance customer value and expand the use of these products and services for mutual benefit.
